Animal Determinants of Emerging Disease:
The Animal Determinants of Emerging Disease (ADED) Research Unit began in 2003 as a collaborative group of veterinary, medical and biological researchers interested in the phenomenon of emerging zoonotic diseases. The seminar series was conceived as a way to network this diverse group of people. Although the research unit was initially funded by a 6 year Michael-Smith Foundation for Health Research Grant, financial support to continue the seminar series portion of the Research Unit since 2009 has come from the Zoonosis Division of the Public Health Agency of Canada.
